Highland Short Programs
During summers and other school breaks, Highland International Education offers a variety of programs that engage students from across the globe. These carefully-designed opportunities range from language and culture immersion camps to programs focused on academics or career-related topics. We partner with leading organizations and schools and engage subject experts to ensure participants a high-quality experience. Our programs make full use of the resources in the Washington, D.C. area; participants enjoy guided visits to Smithsonian Institution museums and attend talks by leaders in U.S. government and the many international organizations present in Washington.

2018 Summer Programs
For Summer 2018, we offer four different programs, each unique to Highland. Whatever their background or interests, students will find a program they will love.
Young Diplomats at Georgetown University
Dates: 7/30 – 8/12
Location: Georgetown University in Washington, D.C.
The Young Diplomats program is designed to provide students a unique and academically challenging pre-college experience. Students will study the theories, practices, and uses of International Relations while engaging with leaders in the field, trips to museums and important buildings, and simulations to better understand what all goes into international diplomacy. Students will be led by local, well-known professors while also having the opportunity to experience college life. During their two weeks, students will stay on campus at Georgetown University, take classes with well-known educators, and have hands-on experiences that help them think critically about the issues that plague the world today.
Highland Specialty Camp
Dates: 7/16 – 7/29, 7/23 – 8/5, 7/30 – 8/12
Locations: Georgetown Preparatory High School at Bethesda, MD
The Highland Specialty Camp is unique experience for students that combines indoor and outdoor education. During the first week of their experience, students will study under professional teachers in the tech field. They will interact and learn beside local students to develop their skills in fields such as game design, coding, and programming. The second week consists of many outdoor activities. Students will learn leadership skills, environmental protection lessons, and sustainability. All classes and activities will be led by extremely qualified and experienced outdoor professionals, and activities range from outdoor team building on ropes courses to sustainability courses at a local farm.
Summer at Sandy Spring
Dates: 7/16 – 7/29, 7/23 – 8/5, 7/30 – 8/12
Locations: Sandy Spring Friends School, Sandy Spring, MD 20860

CPS Summer STEAM Institute
Dates: 7/16 – 7/22, 7/23 – 7/29, 7/30 – 8/5
Locations: Concordia Preparatory School in Towson, MD
This camp offers a great opportunity to middle school students. During their one week experience, students will be involved in a large range of activities that allow them to experience a true STEAM education. Courses from all the fields included in STEAM (Science, technology, engineering, arts, and math) are coupled with educational trips to introduce students to a wide range of topics. Students will stay with a host family during the week to improve their English and learn more about American culture.
